Maternity + Newborn Shoot // Baby Logan

Maternity-Shoot-Brooklin-Whitby-2Maternity-Shoot-Brooklin-Whitby-3 One of the many reasons I love shooting a maternity to newborn session, is to see the change in a growing family. I love capturing the excitement for the arrival of a new baby and the beauty of pregnancy. Not all women feel their best when they are pregnant, heck not many of us do! But I can’t tell you how important it is to capture those moments. I guarantee you will be happy you did. Maternity-Shoot-Brooklin-Whitby-5

They had beautiful natural light streaming through their bedroom (which I love). Photographing families in their home can be so much fun. Not only is it different from the studio shots, but you get to see people in their natural element. This is often best when photographing children. They feel more comfortable, they can be themselves and they have all their toys at home! =) Makes a huge difference. Don’t get me wrong, the studio shots are great, but I love at home shots the most!Newborn-shoot-Brooklin-Whitby-69Newborn-shoot-Brooklin-Whitby-78Newborn-shoot-Brooklin-Whitby-82This is one of my favourite shots of the new baby, Logan! He had a head full of dark, fuzzy hair! Soooo cute! He kept giving me those little looks, what a little heartbreaker. Avery, the eldest was so sweet with Logan. Like always, she worked the camera! 😉 Thanks for inviting me into your home, to capture these beautiful memories of your family. xoNewborn-shoot-Brooklin-Whitby-97Newborn-shoot-Brooklin-Whitby-101

Georgian Bay Lakeside Wedding // Katie + Chris ♥

I had the pleasure of shooting my friends Katie and Chris’ wedding a few weeks ago. The ceremony took place on the picturesque beaches of Georgian Bay, with the mountains and lake as our backdrop. The wedding came to be with only a few months of planning! Katie and Chris used their mad talent to design their own unique stationery and personalized every little bit of the wedding. You know I love good branding! With the love, help and generosity from friends and family, the Sweatman wedding was a perfect day.

Katie and Chris were so very fortunate to have friends offer their cottage, to host the event. And a lovely cottage it was! The location was the perfect spot for two very outdoorsy people, who met on the hills of Georgian Peaks (the very hills that were our backdrop). The wedding was simply elegant, natural, serene, beachy and most importantly full of love! Did I mention laughter? I don’t think I have ever met two more hilarious people than Katie and Chris. You can tell from the photos that their amazing personalities shine right through.

Thank you so much Katie and Chris for letting me photograph your special day and making me laugh and cry.

The Manor Wedding // Margaret + David ♥

I’ve known Margaret and David for years. Margaret, my sisters best friend, asked me about shooting her wedding over a year ago. I was so excited to be apart of their big day. I’ve had the pleasure of watching Margaret grow up with my sister and I’ve also seen her and David’s relationship grow from high school sweethearts into a happily married couple.

We had a great time on their engagement shoot last summer and I knew their wedding would be just as fun. Margaret and David are a very sweet and loving couple and it showed on their wedding day. I was able to capture their love and I’m ashamed to admit how many times I teared up at the wedding. It was a beautiful Italian wedding filled with family, friends, two little nonnas that made my heart melt and the sweetest little ring bearers!

Thank you Margaret and David for allowing me to capture this beautiful day. The Manor was the perfect place to host your wedding, surrounded by nature, a pond and two lovely swans.

Welcome Baby DAYCEN!

Daycen-newborn-announcementThis post has been a long time coming. I had a baby boy almost 6 weeks ago!

My life has completely changed and I am learning to adjust, hence the really late birth announcement! ha

I couldn’t be more happy with this little guy. He is everything to me. It’s crazy how much you can love someone in such a short amount of time. I constantly stare at him to make sure that he’s real! It still shocks me that he is mine. He looks so much like his father too. I don’t see a lot of me in him yet, but I’m sure that will change.

The love I have for my husband has grown ten fold. It’s amazing to see him turn into a daddy and kiss Daycens little head everyday. It really is the most beautiful thing to watch. He’s been such a great help and such an understanding husband. Believe me, there have been some struggles adjusting to no sleep and 14 diaper changes a day! I am not exaggerating. I envy those of you that have babies that will sleep for 3 hours straight. None of that for me….yet.

I just wanted to share some cute shots I took of him at one week old. It’s funny actually, after all the newborn photoshoots I’ve done, photographing my son was the most difficult! He was way more fussy than any other baby I’ve photographed and he just hated being put down. I know….he’s such a mommas boy. : / Scared face. All in all, I still got some cute pics when he settled down.

I am looking forward to watching this little boy grow and get a personality. So very, very thankful for this precious gift. =)2014-Newborn-Daycen-8 2014-Newborn-Daycen-11 2014-Newborn-Daycen-16

My Maternity Photoshoot

Hugh Whitaker-13So I just received my maternity photos in the mail today and I am so in love with them! My friend Hugh took the pics of my husband and I and we couldn’t be happier. Hugh is such a talented photographer and friend. You can check out his work here.

I really wanted an outdoor shoot and something more natural. That’s more my style than the traditional maternity pics you see around. These pics make me want to get out and shoot some more of my own maternity sessions once I have this baby! Hope you like. =)

Everley’s 1st Birthday // Cake Smash Photoshoot

Cake-Smash-Everley-19One of my favourite parts of my job, is photographing newborns and children. I get to see a lot of my clients babies grow into beautiful little humans. This cake smash shoot was of the lovely, little Everley. I was fortunate enough to get to photograph Everley when she was a newborn and take her portraits of her first Christmas. Now she is 1 years old! Time sure does fly by. I can’t wait to watch this one grow into a beautiful big girl. Happy Birthday Everley!

Moody Mondays // 28

moody-mondays-max-wagnerAs a photographer, I really appreciate other photographers who create a look and brand for themselves. Without a doubt, my favorite photographer is Max Wagner. Those of you who know Max, know that his style is somewhat angelic, diffused and simplistic. He often photographs his subjects with lots of open space around them and usually smaller in scale to the surroundings. I love everything about the way he shoots and how he can tell a love story. That brings me to this series of photographs. I love the simplicity of it all. It really resonates with me at the moment, as I am trying to slowly simplify my life, my work routine and get things done. It reminds me to just go for it. Happy Monday ya’ll.

Camping

everyday-deelights-rememberingThis image makes me happy. It reminds me of growing up camping with my family. I am one lucky girl, to have grown up being close with my entire family, especially my grandparents.

My grandmother is in the hospital right now and she’s not doing so great. So this pic brought back some memories of her. When she was a young girl, her family use to take her camping and her mother, my Great Grandmother, was quite the adventurer for her time. (leading teenage tour groups up Mt.Rundle). Ever since I can remember, Grandma has always talked about growing up and having picnics and going camping. She was a country girl at heart. She’d tell me stories about raising her family and how they had many homes, but the old farmhouse in Gravenhurst, Ontario was a special place to her. You see, my grandmother never really knew how to raise animals, or how to keep a farm, but she liked the idea of it. So they had this cow and she would let it sleep inside the house. She felt guilty for leaving it outside in the cold. lol I know where I get my love of animals from!

Anyways, there’s just something about being close to nature, sleeping in a tent and cooking food outdoors with friends and family. It’s always been such a great feeling to me and maybe that’s why I am so excited to get out of the city and move closer to the country. I think it makes me feel close to her as well…

Paris Recap

everyday-deelights-Paris-1I recently returned from my vacation to Paris and Spain and have decided to make two separate posts on each country, because I wanted to make a little video for each.

Let me start by saying that Paris was amazing and that I feel so fortunate to have such wonderful opportunities to travel. I must admit I was a bit skeptical about what they say, you know, “the city of romance.” But seriously…it was sooooo romantic there. A crepe in one hand, a bottle of wine in the other, while watching the lights twinkle on the Eiffel tower, isn’t a memory I will forget anytime soon. It was magical. You really have to experience it for yourself to know what I mean.

The food in Paris was so good. We had fresh croissants filled with chocolate and espressos daily. Well I had the espresso…Derek my husband, hates coffee. I loved the food in Paris. I have a weakness for pastries, sandwiches, crepes and of course…wine! Did you know you could buy mini bottles of wine right by the Eiffel tower? If you plan on going to Paris, you need to do that!

We also went to Frenchie, this really great wine bar. You may have heard of it before. It has been featured in New York Times and has a crazy waiting list. A tourist mentioned this place to us and told us to go to the wine bar. It’s right across from the restaurant and if you get there around 7pm, you’ll get a seat. They serve food there as well and it’s amazing!everyday-deelights-Paris-2

Since it was my first time going to Paris, we did a lot of touristy stuff and walked a ton. I love sightseeing, but sometimes it’s nice to relax and submerge yourself into a culture (minus the touristy stuff). We got to experience both, which was nice. I talk about the sights we had planned on seeing in this post. We did them all, and more!

The highlight of Paris for me, was watching the lights twinkle on the Eiffel tower with food and drinks in hand. Other highlights include, my husband surprising me with a lock to place on the famous lovers bridge, over the Seine River. That was sweet. We had fun running in and out of bars, restaurants and cheese shops, along rue Montorgueil (in the rain of course). That’s how we found L’Epicerie Restaurant. The duck was out of this world. I also loved how they had English menus and were very kind, even with our terrible French. We then stumbled upon Pont d’Arcole, the bridge in Somethings Gotta Give. You know the one, where Jack Nicholson leaves dinner with Diane Keaton and walks to a bridge where he starts to cry. I think he says, “Look who gets to be the girl.” It’s my favorite movie! Last but not least, the fondue at Chalet Gregorie Restaurant was yummy. We had fun there.

If you haven’t been, I really hope you can make it to Paris one day. It really is all it’s cracked up to be. Check out my packing post right here, if you need some help packing for your next vacay and don’t forget to watch my Paris video below. Next recap Spain…so stay tuned!

Newborn Photoshoot // Baby Carter

newborn-photoshoot-bunny-ears-Toronto-1A few weekends ago, I had the pleasure of photographing Rachel + Daniela’s new addition, baby Carter. We had a great time dressing him up in these bow ties and this adorable bunny hat that Rachel made! One day, I want to learn how to knit. I’ll add that to my to-do-list…

As you can see, Carter was giving us baby-smooch-lips all the way through this shoot. He was so cute and loved to be held. That lip gets me every time!newborn-photoshoot-bunny-ears-Toronto-2

The more and more newborn shoots I do, the more I realize how much I love them. Somehow, they put me in a state of absolute relaxation. Babies are so calming…sometimes. Thanks ladies for letting me spend time with your beautiful family!
