Freelance Notebook // Take Risks

designers-notebook-take-risksSo today is my 100th post! I feel like that’s something to be proud of. This blog really started as a way to catalog my everyday deelights and has turned into something much more. That’s why I feel like today’s post, is the perfect time to talk about what’s happening in my life right now…

It’s always a nice reminder to take risks. The world would be a rather dull place if we didn’t. That leads me into something I’m excited to share with you. For months now, I have been toying with the idea of going freelance. I never would have thought, that I would ever go freelance…ever. When I attended college at OCAD, for graphic design, I remember working so hard and hoping to land the perfect job right out of school. I always had intentions of working for someone else and you know, getting that regular pay. Well, if I’m being completely honest, that’s not exactly what happened. That perfect job I was looking for, didn’t seem to exist. At least not where I was looking. So it’s taken me about 7 years, to really figure out that working for someone else, is just not my thing. For some of us, it takes a long time to decide, or even be in a position to try a freelance career.

So that’s my big news that I have been trying to hold in for sometime now. My official life as a freelance designer and photographer will start this summer. I plan on updating my blog about my freelance advice/disasters under this new category, “Freelance Notebook.” Like many other bloggers out there who share their freelance advice, mine will be from my own perspective, based on my experiences and from what I think will be a different point of view. I hope you’ll follow along with me, as I share my freelance journey. Cannonball!
