Le Grand Lodge Wedding // Emily + Jesse ♥

Emily contacted me over a year ago based on the work I did at another wedding. She wanted me to be her wedding photographer and I couldn’t be more delighted! I also had the pleasure of designing her wedding stationery. I love being apart of the creative process of a wedding. It was so much fun to see her vision come together.

The wedding weekend took place at Le Grand Lodge, located in Mont Tremblant. Nestled between a beautiful green forest and a picturesque lake, friends and family gathered to celebrate their love. It was the perfect day. Thank you Emily and Jesse for being such an easy-going, awesomely fun couple and for allowing me to capture your special day. You really are such a great pair!

Moody Mondays // 21

moody-mondays-houseIt’s been a crazy past few weeks to say the least. My husband and I are in the process of selling our house! Well at least the part where we decide we should clean it and then list it. ha ha Honestly though, selling your house can be super stressful, especially if you don’t know where you are going to live next. This illustration up top put a smile on my face. It reminds me of the country and a little place that we are thinking of moving to. It’s really all up in the air right now, but I thought I’d let you in on my mood right now. I’m feelin’ kinda country…well maybe not too country, but somewhere with some trees and open fields. I’ve never been in love with the city, except for the restaurants. So moving further north seems like the right move. A lot more exciting things will be happening in the next few months and right now the country just makes sense. Happy Monday!

Over the Weekend I…

over-the-wknd-Banff-1Banff, Alberta has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. Every year I plan a trip there to visit my cousin. She lives just outside of Calgary with her husband and beautiful new daughter. Not only is it a great excuse to visit my family, but I get to see the Rockies and go snowboarding! I always have such a great time and don’t want to come home. Here are some pics of the mountains this past weekend. over-the-wknd-Banff-2

We usually go snowboarding at Sunshine Park and stay at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. That hotel is one of my favorites. If you stay there, go to the outdoor hot pool. It has an unbelievable view of the mountains. They also have a really fun and hidden ice rink at the back of the hotel (by the restaurant). We often go back there and grab a pan from the shed and go tobogganing! You should also take the tour of the hotel. It’s haunted ya know!

We had a great time on the hills and even though there wasn’t as much snow as usual, it was still amazing! One thing you need to do when you go to Banff, is get a Beavertail. If you don’t know what this is, look it up. They are flattened long pastries (in the shape of a beavertail) it’s sprinkled with sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice. Amazing!over-the-wknd-Banff-3

As you can see, I am pretty much in love with this place. Banff, is a real breath of fresh air! You are surrounded by nature and beauty. Keep your eyes open for moose and Elk!

Refresh Renew

2013-RestartAnother year has come and gone so quickly. It’s crazy to think of all the cool and fun things that I got to do last year. I am so grateful to have such amazing family and friends and the wonderful opportunities that I have been given. This Christmas holiday, I spent time with my family relaxing. Here are some pics from our Christmas weekend at the camp. I love the farmland that surrounds the camp. It’s so calming. Happy 2013 everyone!

Over the weekend I…

Made two apple pies, had turkey, went on a walk through the forest, spent time with my family and went horseback riding. It was awesome! We closed up the cottage over the weekend, so it was bittersweet. I hate closing the cottage when it’s so beautiful up there, but we still plan on going up and staying with family. It just gets to cold to stay in our little cabin.

I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving. I’m kind of sad it’s over. It always goes by way to fast. At least I have my birthday to look forward to and a girls weekend in Collingwood coming up. Here are some pics I took over the weekend!

Thanks.

Happy Friday everyone! I just wanted to wish you a happy Canadian Thanksgiving and remind you to give thanks this weekend. Remember, everyone has something to be thankful for. I’ll be spending my long weekend at the cottage with family and good friends. Thanks for checking out my blog and I can’t wait to share more pics from the weekend. Until next week folks.

Over the weekend I…

Went apple picking with my family! Every year the family and I head north of Toronto and pick apples. It’s a tradition, just like cutting down our own Christmas tree. We went to Watson’s Farm, in Bowmanville. It was great because you got to take a wagon ride to the apples. Here are some shots from the weekend. I love this time of the year…not just because it’s my birthday month. haha

I’m planning on making two apple pies this weekend, for our Canadian Thanksgiving. I am making the pies using a secret Taylor family recipe. It’s one that was passed down to me from my husbands grandmother. I try and switch up the apples sometimes. This year I am going to try one pie using Cortlands. They are great baking apples. Here’s to hoping it works out!

Wedding Photography // Holy Cross Church + Brookstreet

I was so fortunate to get to work with this awesome couple on their wedding photography and their wedding stationery. Elyse and Matthew got married earlier this summer and had a beautiful wedding day. Holy Cross Church, just outside Ottawa in Kemptville, was gorgeous. You could feel the history in it’s walls! You know me, I’m a sucker for old stuff. I just love locations that have a unique feel to them and this was one of them. The entire day was spectacular and the weather was perfect. Hope you enjoy the pics. I enjoyed photographing them.

Discover Something

Ever since I was a little girl I was interested in the past. I loved history and looking at old things. I wanted to be an archeologist when I was younger and travel the world finding “old things.” I even wanted my bedroom decorated to look like it would in pioneer days! My great grandmother gave me her old bed frame from her childhood. It had a wooden frame and holes to put rope through, so that you could place a feather mattress on top. Yeah, it was a very old bed…we added a box spring (obviously). Anyways, till this day I still have a fascination with the past and I love to discover old buildings, antique stores, pretty much anything old!

Over the weekend my husband and I toured around our cottage area, looking at old dilapidated barns, old docks and found a nice place to have a picnic. I just love doing stuff like that. He was even nice enough to take some pictures of me! I rarely have pictures of myself. As a photographer I am always shooting others and sometimes it feels like I was never there. Strange huh? Maybe other photographers feel the same way? Boy did it feel like autumn was it in the air. It was really chilly up there. I can’t wait for the leaves to change!
